IT'S LATE & I'M ANXIOUS : STRATEGIC INFORMATION DELIVERY
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This study investigates human behaviors under stress-inducing conditions like anxiety, urgency, and unreliability, using the Pathika Bus Depot in Gandhinagar as a case study. Through methods like area observation and user shadowing, it identifies how cognitive tunneling—prioritizing critical tasks while neglecting intermediary steps—emerges during such scenarios, leading to chaos and suboptimal decisions. Factors like social proof and herd behavior exacerbate the situation. The proposed solution, a Special Boarding Pass, strategically guides users through a streamlined process, minimizing stress and errors. Broader applications of these findings extend to contexts like demonetization, emergency evacuations, and public service queues, emphasizing structured, context-sensitive interventions.
